Prevention of Gender-Based and Family Violence Social Media Awareness Campaign

In May, Firey Lou led a powerful social media campaign for Prevention of Gender-Based and Family Violence Awareness Month, designed to inspire everyday action and community responsibility. The campaign, titled “An Action a Day”, encouraged individuals to take one simple action each day to help end gender-based violence.

Drawing from the Change the Story framework and grounded in principles of intersectionality, the campaign highlighted how small, consistent steps can collectively shift attitudes, challenge harmful norms, and promote respect and equality. Actions ranged from speaking up against disrespect, listening without judgment, and supporting survivors, to engaging kids in conversations about kindness and equality.

Each post was paired with vibrant visuals, emojis, and a short reflection or encouragement to make the actions feel achievable and relevant to daily life. The goal was to show that prevention doesn’t have to be overwhelming, it can start with one person, one action, one day at a time.

By making prevention visible and doable, Firey Lou’s campaign reminded the community: we all have a role to play in ending gender-based and family violence.
